Position Summary

This newly created, non-exempt, position will support the Credit & Underwriting (UW) and Construction departments in CREA’s Indianapolis office.  The primary responsibility of this position will be assisting the analysts in underwriting Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) projects during the project’s investment period.  The UW/Construction Assistant will accomplish this by ordering credit and background checks, performing online media searches, engaging market studies and preparing insurance questionnaires.  The UW/Construction Assistant will work with all members of the UW and Construction teams in performing these duties.


Additional responsibilities include helping the department maintain its operating expense database and other operating information utilized in underwriting LIHTC projects.  The Assistant will also perform other special projects as needed by the UW & Construction departments.  As the Assistant develops in the role, additional responsibilities could include:  Processing of expense and travel reports in Egencia; Organizing and managing third-party vendor payments; Review of completed market studies; Review of LIHTC applications; Review of property-level financial statements; and Assisting the Construction Group with investor reporting.

The desired working hours for the UW/Construction Assistant position are 7:30am – 4:30pm (EST), M-F.  Some overtime (<10%) will be required throughout the year in order to meet the scheduling and project requirements of the departments.



Minimum academic requirements include: some college course work, especially in real estate, accounting, finance or other related fields.  Candidates pursuing a bachelor’s degree are preferred.  A high school diploma, or its equivalent, is required.   Successful candidate will be motivated, a self-starter, possess efficient time management skills and willing to accept new responsibilities as our business grows.  Position requires proficiency in Excel, Word and PowerPoint as well as ability to research data and information online.  Must be able to demonstrate effectiveness with each of the following Key Attributes.
