Property Impact Update
In 2022, we discussed the rich history and future significance of Karl’s Farm Senior Apartments as part of the larger Karl’s Farm Master Plan in Northglenn, Colorado. Today, Karl’s Farm Senior is built on land that once provided fresh dairy products to the community and now serves seniors with access to modern amenities while honoring the development's historical roots.
Having opened in 2024, Karl’s Farm Senior is located in a prime area, offering residents everything they need both at home and in the surrounding community. The amenities and features include:
ADA Accessible in select apartments
Clubhouse & Fitness Center
Commitment to green initiatives
Pet-friendly
Walking access to public transportation
Affordable housing for seniors is a crucial public health issue because it significantly affects both their physical and mental health. Connected communities, such as Karl’s Farm Senior, are essential not only in Colorado but throughout the country. These communities enable seniors to stay in their neighborhoods and age in place while also offering access to vital services and social connections.
While care facilities and nursing homes provide some support for seniors and their families, they are struggling to keep pace with the growing population. A recent article from the Population Reference Bureau (PRB) suggests that many seniors seek care in nursing homes not necessarily because of health issues, but rather due to a lack of affordable housing options.
“With high-quality and affordable housing having direct links to better health outcomes in older adults, strengthening housing policies becomes an important public health matter, especially for those who may have more disadvantages.” (Source)
